Stewardship Utah (formerly known as Rural Utah Project)

"The secret of our success is that we never, never give up." — Wilma Mankiller (Native American activist and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom)
The Kelly Ann Brown Foundation didn’t hesitate when deciding to offer a third grant to the nonprofit originally called the Rural Utah Project (RUP). Their efforts to register voters throughout the Navajo Nation (located in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah) made all the difference in the 2020 presidential election. Political pundits agree that the Navajos delivered President Biden the win he needed in Arizona.
RUP’s executive director, TJ Ellerbeck, reached out to KABF this summer, excited to share that RUP and another nonprofit, O₂ Utah, joined forces to form the new nonprofit Stewardship Utah. Ellerbeck shared their goals: “As Stewardship Utah, we will be working to protect the land, air, water, and voting rights for all people in Utah through elections, policy, and democracy.”
KABF can’t wait to hear more about Stewardship Utah.
